There are many methods for removing unwanted hair, including shaving, waxing, plucking, and using depilatory creams. Each of these methods can be time-consuming, and the results just don’t last. At True Blue Aesthetics, we offer FDA-approved laser hair removal for patients in Edmond and Oklahoma City seeking smooth, hair-free skin with long-lasting results.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
At True Blue Aesthetics, we are proud to employ Lumenis LightShear® laser technology with vacuum assistance and/or a Chill-tip for hair removal. This diode laser precisely targets pigment in the hair follicles without harming the surrounding skin.

The laser light is absorbed by the melanin in the hair, which converts to heat and destroys the follicles during their active growth phase—leading to permanent hair reduction over time.

How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal
When you meet with your provider for your personalized laser hair removal consultation, you will be given instructions on how to prepare for treatment so that you will enjoy optimal results and fewer side effects. This may include:
- Avoiding sun exposure
- Discontinuing use of tanning beds and sunless tanning products
- Discontinuing use of hair removal methods like waxing, tweezing, depilatory creams, and threading (shaving is ok)
- Discontinuing use of exfoliants
- Hair must be shaved at your appointment.
The Laser Hair Removal Procedure
Before laser hair removal, your nurse will assess the treatment area and determine which handpiece is appropriate. Then, the nurse will cleanse the area with alcohol and apply a clear gel to your skin if needed. Both handpieces are designed to ensure a comfortable treatment. The unique vacuum mechanism included in the LightShear handpiece is used for larger treatment areas and quicker treatment. The Chill-tip handpiece is used for smaller areas that require more contour and shaping.
You will recline in a comfortable treatment chair as the LightShear handpiece is applied to the treatment area. You may encounter sensations of warmth or mild stinging, but treatment should not be painful.
Laser Hair Removal Recovery & Results
No downtime is necessary after laser hair removal with the LightShear system. The treated area may be slightly red, swollen, or irritated after treatment, but this will quickly subside.
Many of our patients report seeing a visible improvement in hair density after just a few laser hair removal treatments.
FAQs About Laser Hair Removal
Am I a good candidate for laser hair removal?
Most people are good candidates, especially those with darker hair and lighter skin, but advancements in technology now allow safe treatment for a broad range of skin tones and hair types. We’ll assess your goals and skin during your consultation to determine the best approach.
Is laser hair removal painful?
No. One of the reasons we love the LightShear system for laser hair removal is that the vacuum technology helps to make treatment faster and more comfortable.
How much is laser hair removal?
The pricing for laser hair removal varies for each patient, depending on the size of the treatment area, the number of treatments, and factors such as skin type and hair color. We’ll provide a personalized quote based on your treatment plan during your consultation—don’t forget to ask about current specials and packages.
How many treatments will I need?
Hair growth happens in cycles, so you’ll need to come in for a few laser hair removal sessions to achieve optimal results. The number of treatments you’ll need depends on your hair type, the size of the treatment area, and your hair and skin color. Most of our patients require four to six treatments, spaced a few weeks apart.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
Laser hair removal is the best way to get rid of facial and body hair for the long term. Still, new hair may grow following your treatment, so touch-ups may be necessary.
